The Every Student Succeeds Act, signed into law December 10, 2015, replaced and updated the No Child Left Behind Act (NCLB). The Every Student Succeeds Act took full effect in the 2017-18 school year. As a result, states had to submit accountability plans to the Federal Education Department, in the 2017-18 school year.
